The Scoop

Easily our best Houston area find to date, Lake Houston Wilderness Park boasts over 4,700 acres of heavily forested parkland. With a combined 33 miles of trails for hiking, biking and horseback riding, a nature center, reservable dinning hall and multiple options for lodging, this park is great for overnight as well as day use.

What We Loved

The trails. We loved the trails. Well maintained, shaded and seemingly in the middle of nowhere, it's no wonder our friends with Run In Texas return here year after year for their TrailFest. We elected to stay in the cabins this go around and we're glad we did.  They provided the perfect staging ground for our operations at the park that weekend. They were clean, comfortable and steps away from those great trails.

What We'd Like to See Instead

We have racked our brains and honestly can't think of anything we didn't like about this park! Perhaps because our focus was on the race, but this really was a great park.  It's close to home, well maintained, quiet. The staff was friendly and you really do feel like you're in the middle of the woods. We highly encourage you to visit this peaceful park!
